Photonics 42 adopts ficonTEC automated assembly solutions to offer packaging services within the European Photonics ecosystem

Photonics 42 is enhancing its capabilities in the assembly and packaging of Integrated Photonics Circuits and Optoelectronics devices and has commissioned to ficonTEC Service GmbH the supply of a flexible machine to cover both assembly and packaging prototypes and low-mid volume manufacturing of photonic integrated devices. The assembly machine will be delivered by ficonTEC to Photonics 42 in January 2020.

This partnership goes far beyond the delivery of a machine, as Photonics 42 also offers process development and optimization as well as manufacturing services based on the ficonTEC platform also to prospective and future ficonTEC customers.

The acquisition of the assembly machine enhances the Photonics42’s services capabilities to support European Startups, SMEs and larger companies in development, prototyping, and pre-series production for new products introduction (NPI) and small-medium volume manufacturing. The photonic assembly and packaging services are hosted by the Polytechnic of Milan in a 220 m² ISO 08 clean room, with a fully equipped back-end area.
